Rudy Ray Moore is DOLEMITE. When those five words came across movie screens back in 1975 it made history. Film history, black history, everyone’s history. That legacy has continued for the ensuing decades and across expanding audiences, and in 2019 was celebrated beyond all imagination by Eddie Murphy’s wonderful biopic of Dolemite is My Name! about Rudy Ray Moore’s incredible creation, 1975’s Dolemite.
